New Intake Executive Headteacher’s message:

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Cockburn John Charles Academy. The multi-academy trust’s popularity is based upon good academic success and a disciplined, positive and engaging learning environment. Our Values and Expectations are the foundations of our school. Our sense of purpose and drive is reflected in our Values and Expectations which mirrors the continuous improvement in standards and improving outcomes for all students in the south Leeds area.

The school experience should be more than the teaching of academic subjects, therefore we encourage and support students to take advantage of a much wider offer. The strong academic side is well balanced by a rich variety of extra-curricular activities and a wealth of arts and sporting opportunities for all. The personal development of students centres around the Form Tutor, with support from our Care, Support and Guidance Team where required. Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors are available for close support and those with a Gifted and Talented/Special Educational Needs profile are carefully nurtured to realise their full potential.

Our vision for Cockburn John Charles academy is ‘Transformation to Excellence’,  characterised by the relentless pursuit of securing an outstanding education and outcomes for all.  The achievements of the past are something to be very proud of, but the present and the future are more important. The whole team at Cockburn John Charles Academy is committed to raising achievement and standards even further and to creating a truly excellent school.

Mr D Gurney
Executive Headteacher
