Thursday 20th June 2018 was the day we said goodbye to our Year 11 students, the class of 2018.
The day started with year 11 arriving at the academy for the Graduation ceremony. This was a fantastic event in which all staff and parents/carers packed out the theatre, along with Year 11, to celebrate their time here at the academy. The capacity audience enjoyed a range of goodbye speeches from form tutors and Mrs Tunstall, with many a tear being shed as students were invited onto the stage to receive their record of achievement folders from Mr Gurney and Mrs Roberts. Tia Musonza year 7 and Jessica Williamson year 11 provided the entertainment, bringing the roof down with their rendition of “This is me”.
As the ceremony drew to a close, everybody’s attention then turned to the Year 11 prom which was booked for the same evening at Elland road.
Over 100 year 11 students attended the event in the evening, the array of outfits was spectacular, maybe even being mistaken for a red carpet event. As staff and students danced the night away, several year 11 students were noted saying how much they had enjoyed the whole day and what a fantastic day it had been. We wish our year 11 cohort all the best for the future and look forward to seeing you all on results day.
